Job Overview

Amentum is seeking an HVAC Technician IV to join our team in Decatur, IL. The typical work schedule is variable 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; hours may vary based on business demand with potential weekend hours to support our 24/7 operation.

• Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs heating and ventilation equipment, pumps, fans, compressors, and other mechanical equipment as necessary.
• Performs preventive maintenance on HVAC control and operating systems as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Responds to and provides service feedback to the customer on all work orders while ensuring compliance with codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Recommends measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
• Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
• Coordinates work with outside contractors and ensures code and building standards are met.
• Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.
• Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

• High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
• 5 years of experience in area of specialization.
• Must have EPA 608 Universal Certificate.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to obtain a security access badge at client location.

• Qualified applicants must pass a pre‑employment substance abuse test.
• Position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
• Position does not include sponsorship for U.S. work authorization.

• Regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
• Regularly climb and use ladders, roofs, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.
• Flexible to bend, stoop, squat in repetitive motions.
• Use lifting devices to reach work areas.
• Regular kneeling, walking extensive throughout the plant.
• Use approved utility knife and differentiate wire colors.
• Repetitive wrist movement and interaction with clients under stress.
• Use of aerial lifting equipment.

• Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves (multiple types depending on work), hard hats, and other personal protective equipment.

• Willingness to work overtime when required.
• May be required to work holidays and weekends.

$36 - $40 per hour.
