Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Installation Technician, Plumber

Pipefitter NCCER – This role involves laying out, assembling, installing, and maintaining pipe systems, pipe supports, and hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production and processing systems.
Specific Duties And Responsibilities- Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications using tools such as saws, cutting torches, pipe threaders, and benders.
- Attach pipes to walls, structures, and fixtures (e.g., radiators or tanks) using brackets, clamps, tools, or welding equipment.
- Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.
- Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair according to specifications.
- Select pipe sizes, types, and related materials such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders.
- Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment using hand and power tools.
- Install automatic controls used to regulate pipe systems.
- Operate valve keys or wrenches to shut off steam, water, or other gases/liquids from pipe sections.
- Remove and replace worn components.
- Inspect work sites for obstructions and ensure holes do not cause structural weakness.
- Operate motorized pumps to remove water from flooded manholes, basements, or facility floors.
- Dip nonferrous piping materials in a mixture of molten tin and lead to apply a coating that prevents erosion or galvanic and electrolytic action.
- Other duties as assigned.

Physical DemandsThe physical demands include regular sitting, handling, and reaching with hands and arms; frequent standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. The role requires talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling. Regular lifting or moving of up to 25 pounds is required, with frequent lifting or moving up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
QualificationsEducation: No minimum education requirements.
Experience: 4 years of journeyman‑level experience.
Certifications / Licenses: NCCER and a valid driver’s license.
