Pay range: $25 USD to $35 USD. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related factors.
DescriptionAbout the Role
Cogent, Inc., an employee-owned company, seeks an experienced service technician with strong mechanical aptitude and experience with pumps and rotating equipment. This position will work out of the Decatur, IL facility.
What You’ll Do
As a Shop Service Technician, you will be responsible for rotating equipment service and repair for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work alone or as part of a team to service and maintain various types of rotating equipment typically found in the water and wastewater industry, often under tight deadlines.
- Use repair reports to document repair estimates, repair work, and failure diagnoses, including part numbers, part descriptions, estimated and actual labor hours, and documentation of work performed to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Uphold all safety practices and procedures as detailed in the company safety manuals.
- Continuously learn about products, applications, technology, market conditions, and competitive advantages.
Skills & Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- Excellent electro-mechanical repair and troubleshooting skills
- Desire and ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving field
- Ability to work overtime on short notice
- Strong communication and organizational skills and a positive attitude toward customer service
- Basic computer knowledge
- Ability to lift and maneuver heavy objects, parts, equipment, and materials
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
Preferred:
- Experience repairing submersible pumps or other rotating equipment found in water and wastewater facilities
- A degree in mechanics or electronics from a technical or vocational school
