Roadside Assistance Technician – AAA The Auto Club Group
It’s a great time to join AAA The Auto Club Group! It is a full‑time position, eligible for hourly wages and overtime pay. Eligible applicants may work as either exempt or non‑exempt.
Job SummaryIn this role you will be an essential part of the Emergency Roadside Assistance team, providing services to AAA members, employees, and other motorists. You will operate a full‑size or mini service truck or tow truck, use GPS to locate breakdown sites, and perform on‑scene repairs and services that keep members safely on the road.
Responsibilities- Operate a full‑size or mini service truck or tow truck and all applicable service equipment.
- Use GPS and maps to locate member breakdown locations.
- Provide services such as fuel delivery, battery testing and replacement, jump‑starts, lockout service, and flat‑tire change/inflation.
- Arrange or tow a member’s vehicle when it cannot be started or is unsafe to drive.
- Deliver excellent customer service to ensure 100% member satisfaction.
- Offer value to members through On‑the‑Go Tow or battery tests/sales.
- Provide support at special events such as parades, travel shows, Car Care or Public Relations events.
- High school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license.
- 21 years of age or older.
- Valid state driver’s license with minimal driving infractions/incidents. In Illinois, a valid Illinois C‑Non CDL driver’s license is required.
- Experience using tablets or electronic devices to update calls, review policies, document safety records, and complete duties.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to effectively communicate with customers and members.
- Ability to lift materials weighing up to seventy‑five (75) pounds.
- Successful completion of drug screening, MVR, criminal background check and DOT health screenings (pre‑employment and ongoing).
- Experience servicing vehicles, including fuel delivery, battery testing and replacement, jump‑starts, lockout service, and flat‑tire change/inflation.
- Prior tow truck driver or roadside service experience.
- Ability to safely operate a wheel lift, flatbed, dolly towing equipment, and a full‑size or mini service vehicle, as well as related commercial driving experience.
- Hourly rates starting at $24.00 in Illinois; pay may exceed the starting rate based on experience.
- Overtime earning potential at time and a half.
- Shift premiums: 5% for hours worked between 5pm and 11pm, and 10% for hours worked between 11pm and 5am.
- $1,000 sign‑on bonus (split payout at 90 and 180 days; eligible only for new applicants).

- Work primarily outside the office, with frequent exposure to road hazards and temperature extremes; less than 5% of time is spent in a temperature‑controlled office environment.
