Who you are:

Drivers are responsible for providing friendly, safe and reliable transportation around the Decatur, for our fixed route (city buses).

Driver job responsibilities:

• Representing the Decatur community in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
• Providing safe transportation and maintaining on-time performance.
• Performing pre and post trip inspections to ensure proper operating condition of vehicle and equipment.
• Providing excellent customer service to passengers, including assisting with boarding and de-boarding, communicating pertinent information, and responding appropriately in the event of an emergency.
• Understanding of ADA compliance.
• Communicating effectively with dispatch or central office via two way radio.
• Adjusting to variables in normal working conditions, including adverse weather, traffic and construction, passenger incidents, accidents and trip changes.
• Employ all techniques of defensive driving to minimize risk.
• Maintaining a safe work area and a focus on safety to reduce the opportunity for injury to self or other employees.

Qualifications:

• Bus driver minimum requirements:
• Must have a current Illinois state driver's license with at least three (3) years driving experience in the United States
• Must have CDL or CDL permit
• Ability to pass a DOT physical (we will provide)
