Driver II - Decatur SD

Position

Driver responsible for transporting food products and food service equipment throughout the school district using a box truck with a lift gate. Requires a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and the ability to operate a vehicle under 10,000 lbs. Safe, efficient, and timely service is essential.

• Complete a daily vehicle inspection form before and after each route.
• Maintain a pleasant and clean atmosphere inside and outside the vehicle.
• Always wear seat belt and use all available safety equipment.
• Operate the company vehicle, weighing under 10,000 lbs, to transport supplies and equipment to designated locations.
• Drive defensively, safely, and cautiously in all situations.
• Provide exceptional customer service and represent the company positively at all times.
• Punctually pick up and drop off food products and equipment at specified locations.
• Serve as a concierge resource for guests, being knowledgeable of the property and surrounding areas.
• Fuel, clean, and inspect the vehicle when required.
• Identify maintenance and safety issues, take corrective action, and report malfunctions immediately.
• Collaborate with the Logistics Coordinator to ensure special and group requests are completed.
• Assist with clerical work, answer phones, and perform office duties such as dispatching when required.
• Adhere to the provided schedule and operational expectations, demonstrating outstanding time‑management skills.
• Attend all scheduled department and safety meetings.
• Share innovative ideas to improve efficiency and operations.
• Follow all company policies and procedures regarding safety, security, emergencies, energy, and the rules of the road.

• At least 18 years of age.
• Proficient in operating a box truck with limited visibility, including backing up and maneuvering in tight spaces.
• Effective written and spoken English communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record showing five years of safe driving.
• Pass a pre‑employment background check.
• Experience driving in all weather conditions, including winter weather.
• Physical capability to lift, bend, push, pull, walk, and stand for extended periods; ability to wear uniforms and/or PPE.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Hourly rate: $17.00 – $19.00.
