Summary

This is a live-in position that is responsible for coordinating campus-wide wellness and health-promotion and overseeing the general housing operation and residence life program for Farwell Hall.

The Wellness portion of the position develops and implements campus-wide student wellness and health-promotion practices to create an environment that promotes student success, personal development, and well-being while supervising wellness ambassadors.

The Residence Life portion of this position includes supervising student hall staff, enforcing hall policies, and creating a comprehensive living-learning program for the upper class students that reside in Farwell Hall.

Wage: $33,973 - $42,200

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, and assess theory-based wellness and health-promotion strategies and programs.
  • Develop yearly goals and objectives for wellness and health-promotion programs in coordination with the Director of Student Well-Being.
  • Supervise wellness student educators that serve on the Wellness team and Farwell resident assistants.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders on and off campus to develop a comprehensive approach to wellness and health-promotion for students emphasizing personal and community well-being including substance use, healthy relationships, bystander intervention, stress management, and physical well-being.
  • Serve as a member of the Luther College Care Team and provide follow up assistance with Farwell residents.
  • Administer the student wellness program budget and the Farwall Hall budget by preparing and carefully recording expenditures.
  • Maintain daily office hours that encourage open communication with students and staff.
  • Administer housing operations including check in, check out, room changes, facilities usage, occupancy management, service center operations, and key inventory.
  • Coordinate student learning, community development, and personal development activities within Farwell Hall revolving around the wellness model.
  • Collaborate with campus partners, to include but not be limited to Student Activities and Leadership, Athletics, Career Center, Center for Academic Enrichment, Campus Programming, Center for Intercultural Engagement and Support, College Ministries to support student development through shared initiatives.
  • Enforce college and department policies within the residence halls.
  • Work closely with custodial and facilities personnel to maintain a clean and safe housing environment.
  • Participate in residence life staff and student life staff meetings, staff development sessions, and committees.
  • Assist with other Residence Life Office and Student Life Divisional duties as assigned.

  • Four Wellness Student Educators, One Assistant Hall Director, Six Resident Assistants
Education, Experience And Skills
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree required. Most relevant degrees include health promotion, public wellness, wellness education, and college student personnel
  • Experience:

    Previous wellness education experience or residence life experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends of the college.
  • Other Requirements:
    An appreciation for the distinctive mission of residential, church-affiliated, liberal arts colleges; strong commitment to the educational potential of the residence halls; good verbal, written communications, and organizational skills; the ability to establish relationships with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and viewpoints; and a willingness to live and work in the residence halls.
