Sort Machine Operator – 3rd Shift, M-F 11pm-7am
Pay Rate: $20.28

Job Summary
As a Sort Machine Operator, you will be part of the Decorah Operations team. Your responsibilities include setting up and running automatic sorting machines, boxing, labeling, and palletizing products, maintaining cleanliness, working overtime, training others, and handling equipment maintenance.
Key Responsibilities- Set up pre‑existing and new products on all sorting machines (Mectron, Kotsu, Retina, CCM, Dowel Pin, Roll Sorters, and internal machines).
- Box, label, and pallet products.
- Adjust machine sensors, table, and roller; run fasteners through the sorting machine; ensure parts meet blueprint specifications; follow the hot schedule.
- Use micrometer, caliper, and dial gauges to regularly check good parts for compliance with blueprint specs.
- Recognize defects in parts that the sorting machine cannot distinguish.
- Set counter to reflect required pieces per box per customer requirements before run.
- After each sort run, log list of parts sorted indicating part number, pieces, customer, and time required to sort.
- Set up new products on all sort equipment with minimal or no supervision.
- Demonstrate leadership and motivation on all sorting equipment.
- Train other employees to operate any/all of the machine sorters.
- Maintain cleanliness of work area and follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Assist in other areas of the warehouse (bagging parts, packaging parts, shipping) as time requires.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Supervisor or Lead person.
- Clean machine, sensors, cameras, table, and rollers as needed; grease machine at required intervals.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ability to read blueprints, micrometers, calipers, and use dial gauges.
- Knowledge of IATF
16949 and ISO
14001 requirements. - Preferred skills: knowledge of electro‑mechanical equipment (fiber optics and vision sorters), knowledge of fasteners, previous experience operating similar machine sort equipment.
