POSITION SUMMARY
The Receiver position receives product for the entire store and ensures all staff and customers have a safe and comfortable environment to work and shop. This position ensures all deliveries are brought into the building safely, broken down and checked against invoices according to department protocols, notating any damage, shorts, or mis-picks. This position will also do general grocery stocking. This position requires the ability to problem-solve, work independently, and communicate effectively with all team members.
All OCC staff are responsible for providing a welcoming, friendly, and helpful customer service environment to all shoppers and co-workers in accordance with our organizational goals and programs.
Full-Time (30-40 hours per week)
Daytime shifts
Forklift experience is preferred but not necessary.
Starting wage: $16.50/hr
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCustomer Service
- Maintains familiarity with all areas of the store to best assist customers and staff
- Upholds the Code of Conduct, using T.H.I.N.K. (True, Helpful, Inspiring, Necessary, and Kind)
- Always use S.E.T. (Smile, Engage, and Thank You) in all customer interactions
- Become familiar with the Co-op mission, Ends, and policies to answer customer questions. Refer unresolved questions or problems to appropriate staff
- Prepare storage areas for incoming shipments.
- Operate forklift and maintain forklift maintenance records.
- Maintain good relationships with delivery drivers.
- Rotates products appropriately by date.
- Maintain optimal cleanliness of receiving bay and equipment - including floors, coolers, and outside areas utilized for deliveries behind the store.
- Operate forklift safely when receiving orders.
- Unload deliveries and check against invoice to ensure piece count and quality of items. Notify manager or assistant manager of discrepancies.
- Sign for deliveries with appropriate adjustments noted on invoice.
- Label and date deliveries as necessary, then rotate product appropriately by date.
- Send invoices and products to the appropriate department.
- Store and stack products safely for employees.
- Submit credits for damaged or unsellable items, following established protocols and as instructed by department management. Send follow up emails as necessary.
- Stock product to shelves while maintaining good customer service
- Properly handle and rotate items while stocking
- Ensure any cold items are kept at proper temperature when stocking
- Maintain an organized back stock area by keeping like items together with proper date rotation
- Ensure that department areas (aisles, shelves, bins, and storage areas) are kept in clean and orderly condition.
- Understand proper recycling, compost, and refuse disposal procedures.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including verbal and written instructions.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision but possess excellent team skills.
- Willingness and ability to grow to meet the changing requirements of the job.
- Understand the cooperative principles and business model.
- Respond to challenging situations in a positive and professional manner.
- Demonstrate regular, predictable work attendance and communicate to the supervisor and/or GM any work schedule changes.
