QUALIFICATIONS:

* Must hold MA DESE licensure in music 1-5

* Experience teaching music classes at the 1-5 level

* Ability to direct large choral ensembles

* Knowledge and implementation of audiation-based music teaching

REPORTS TO:

Principal and/or Department Chair

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 183 days;
Position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Teach general music classes grades 1-5 and direct 4th and 5th grade all-inclusive choruses.

* Attend concerts and performances as needed throughout the year.

* Register and prepare students/ensembles for auditions and festivals as needed.

* Work with Performing Arts colleagues to align curriculum and lessons to established school and district objectives.

* Implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives.

* Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.

* Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.

* Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.

* Effectively implement district initiatives.

* Effectively collaborate with department and grade level teachers.

OTHER

JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.

* Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
