The Credit Portfolio Manager I is responsible for providing credit analysis support for significant and complex Commercial Lending relationships and supporting portfolio administration activities, including annual review monitoring, financial covenant testing, loan maturities, risk rating accuracy, and related reporting. This role partners closely with the Credit and Lending teams to ensure credit and portfolio management expectations are clearly communicated, appropriately documented, and completed in a timely manner.

The position also supports the CCO and credit management with portfolio risk assessments, management and board-level reporting, collateral evaluation oversight, credit policy and procedure reviews, system and process improvements, departmental projects, Commercial audits, loan reviews, and recommendations to strengthen risk and portfolio management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor portfolio administration activities in accordance with Bank loan policies, including annual review requirements, financial covenant testing, loan maturities, and related reporting.
  • Complete credit analysis and file comments for new money, renewals, modifications, and annual review requests for significant and complex Commercial Lending relationships.
  • Work closely with the Credit and Lending teams to ensure timing expectations are clearly communicated and met.
  • Review credit and legal documentation to ensure proper tracking and testing of financial covenants and to identify inconsistencies requiring correction.
  • Maintain responsibility for the accuracy of loan risk ratings and support timely identification of portfolio risk trends.
  • Assist the CCO with monitoring commercial portfolio risk assessments, including risk rating trends, stress testing, asset quality, and industry concentrations; prepare management and board-level reports as needed.
  • Oversee internal collateral evaluation functions, including approval of analyst-prepared evaluations as needed.
  • Work closely with the Commercial Credit Manager to facilitate implementation of credit and commercial systems, processes, procedures, and analysis templates.
  • Support credit management in identifying opportunities to improve credit policies, procedures, workflow, efficiency, and overall portfolio administration.
  • Provide key support to the CCO and serve as a liaison with internal and external audit teams, loan review, compliance, and other oversight partners, as needed.
  • Lead or assist with departmental projects
  • Upon request, interact with Bank clients to request financial information, answer questions during the credit process, or attend client meetings as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, or a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of education and directly related commercial credit experience may be considered.
  • Five or more years of relevant experience in banking, commercial lending, credit, portfolio management, loan administration, or financial services, including at least three years of commercial credit analysis or closely related credit experience.
  • Experience supporting the analysis of significant or complex commercial lending relationships, including renewals, modifications, annual reviews, risk rating support, and credit recommendations.
  • Experience with portfolio monitoring activities, including covenant tracking, loan maturity monitoring, annual review requirements, and related portfolio administration.
