Blood Component Manufacturing Technician

In this role, you will manufacture blood products and samples, processing units received from donors. This involves scanning units of blood, processing them into transfusable components (red cells, platelets, plasma), and leukoreducing.

As a Red Cross team member, you will care for your team members, show up for every shift, and give 100% while you are there. Interact in a positive, proactive, and customer‑focused manner with internal and external customers, demonstrating care and compassion at all times.

• Meet quality and quantity production goals, prioritize workload, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Perform inventory management practices throughout manufacturing and distribution.
• Enter data and operate computer programs for component production, labeling, storage, and sample tube management.
• Analyze and make decisions based on visual inspection and information from other departments to meet time objectives.
• Perform complex manufacturing tasks such as pooled product manufacturing, freeze, wash, or deglycerolizing of blood products, and pathogen reduction.
• Communicate effectively with internal customers, vendors, and volunteers.
• May require flexibility to work a variable schedule that includes weekends and holidays.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum two years of related experience in a regulatory, laboratory, or manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Good computer skills and ability to use a variety of programs and laboratory equipment, with attention to detail, accurate documentation, and good decision‑making skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to work on a team, as well as independently with minimal supervision.

Requires standing, stretching, stooping, and bending for extended periods. Lift, pull, push, and move objects up to 50 pounds. May work in walk‑in refrigerators/freezers and may be required to wear protective clothing such as lab coats, gloves, face shields, etc.
