Job Description

The Boston Food Pantry Manager implements and participates in the development of initiatives to increase Red Cross visibility through program/service delivery within the Chapter’s jurisdiction. They advance assigned programs or services to meet goals and objectives, develop program/service-specific objectives for new initiatives, and act as a subject‑matter expert (SME) to staff, management, volunteers, and external partners. The Manager supervises day‑to‑day outreach operations in the Boston Food Pantry.

Essential

Functions
  • Manage outreach activities and federal programs such as SNAP Outreach and Nutrition Outreach, implementing activities and new initiatives with distributions in the Boston Food Pantry and other program distribution programs.
  • Provide at‑home delivery services.
  • Develop and participate in initiatives to increase Red Cross visibility through program or service delivery.
  • Advance assigned program or service to meet goals and objectives, and develop program‑ or service‑specific objectives for new initiatives.
  • Act as SME to staff, management, volunteers, and external partners.
  • Provide support, development, and leadership guidance to all volunteers.
  • Implement outreach and communication strategies to maintain and enhance relationships that support objectives.
  • Assign and coordinate staff members and volunteers on project assignments; supervise and train volunteers when required.
  • Evaluate and report on program effectiveness, preparing recommendations for continuous improvement using satisfaction surveys and feedback sessions.
  • Develop and maintain active professional relationships with key internal and external partners.
  • Provide analysis, advice, and consultation on programs and/or services.
What You Need To Succeed Education

Bachelor's degree required.

Experience

Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.

Skills & Abilities

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to develop project plans and budgets; in‑depth knowledge of program or service; confidentiality and ethics; presentation and training module development; intermediate proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); teamwork.

Travel

Occasional travel required. Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and be willing to drive a 20‑foot box truck.

Pay Information

Salary range (Massachusetts): $24.75 - $26.00 per hour.

Physical Requirements

Employee must sit, use hands to handle or feel, talk, hear, reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must lift and/or move up to 15 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally. Work environment moderate noise. Ability to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods.
