Boston Food Pantry Manager

Location:

1033 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston.

Position type:
Full‑time, hourly, Tuesday through Saturday 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Preferred experience working in a food pantry and with volunteers.

Essential Functions

Implement and participate in initiatives to increase Red Cross visibility through program service delivery.

Advance assigned programs or services to meet goals and objectives.

Act as subject matter expert (SME) to staff, management, volunteers and external partners.

Supervise day‑to‑day outreach operations in the Boston Food Pantry.

Lead outreach activities and federal programs such as SNAP Outreach and Nutrition Outreach, and coordinate distribution programs (Boston Public Schools, East Boston Neighborhood Health Center Satellite Pantry, Head Start). Provide at‑home delivery.

Provide support, development and leadership guidance to volunteers.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree required.
Experience:

Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills & Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; develop project plans & budgets; create presentations and training modules; intermediate proficiency with MS Office; ability to work on a team; maintain confidentiality and work with integrity and ethics.
Travel:
Occasional travel required; must have a current, valid driver's license with a good driving record and be willing to drive a 20‑foot box truck.

Pay

Salary range (Massachusetts): $24.75 – $26.00 per hour.

Physical Requirements

The role requires regular sitting, use of hands, and talking or hearing. Frequently reaching with hands and arms. Occasionally standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Must lift or move up to 15 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally. Work environment may have moderate noise; may require working in a small space and sitting at a computer for extended periods.
