Overview
The Hebrew Senior Life Hospice provides Jewish (but open to everyone) hospice care in the greater Boston area, grounded in Hessed (loving kindness) and Kevod HaBeriyot (honoring life). The hospice team works collaboratively with patients and families through the final months, weeks, and days of life, focusing on physical comfort, emotional and spiritual support, and companionship. The goal is a peaceful, pain‑free death and support for bereaved families.
This role is an opportunity to contribute to a rapidly growing, clinically excellent hospice program.
Provide professional nursing care to hospice patients as part of the interdisciplinary group (IDG). Identify patient/family needs and deliver supportive care in accordance with the attending physician’s orders, the IDG plan of care, and hospice policies and procedures. Work under the direction of the attending physician, the hospice medical director, the clinical manager, and the senior director of home and community‑based services (HCBS).
Maintain compliance with the Massachusetts Registered Nurse Practice Act. Transport yourself to patients’ homes or facilities in a reliable vehicle; maintain a valid Massachusetts driver’s license and be available to work at multiple locations during a workday.
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
- Current RN license in good standing in Massachusetts.
- No less than six months of acute‑care RN experience (or as required by state regulations).
- Minimum one year’s RN experience required; hospice experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to assess and respond to patient and family needs in varied settings.
- Ability to function with minimal direct supervision and take responsibility for maintaining professional relationships with patients and families.
- Commitment to ongoing learning and adherence to hospice policies and procedures.
