Job Summary
Responsible for dispensing spectacles and other optical products to both adults and children, working with prescriptions written by optometrists and ophthalmologists. This position advises and assists patients with various types of lenses and spectacle frames, including style, weight, and color. The advertised pay range does not include additional compensation paid through a spiff program.
Key Responsibilities- Verify order data entry and compare prescriptions to the original doctor’s order to ensure all information is accurate.
- Complete proper order filing procedures, filing the order under the correct ABC system in the store.
- Deliver sales by providing excellent member service in person and over the phone, explaining procedures and discussing available products.
- Take measurements, ensure correct frame selection for prescription power, read prescriptions on the lensometer, and notify product readiness.
- Advise members on available products, recommend those that improve visual needs, and strive to meet sales and metric goals.
- Assist members with eyeglass adjustments, repairs, and provide support in front of the optical area.
- Assist the Optical Manager with opening and closing procedures at the beginning and end of shifts.
- Maintain accurate funds collection and process payments at the point of service.
- Adhere to all privacy and confidential/proprietary company policies, including HIPAA compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned and maintain full attendance as an essential function of the job.
- Must be licensed to work as an optician within the state and keep license up to date and active.
- Knowledge of optical products and business practices preferred.
- High school diploma, college degree, and/or experience in big‑box wholesale, retail, and/or optical settings preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail required.
- Open shift availability required for full‑time positions.
- At least 18 years of age.
Pay range: $28.00 - $34.25 per hour.

Most of the time is spent moving around frequently on hard surfaces. The role may involve bending, handling, pulling, reaching, or stooping. Frequently requires lifting objects up to 20 pounds, with occasional requirement to lift and move heavy or awkward items over 20 pounds with assistance. Operates in a comfortable indoor area with some exposure to temperature extremes, loud noises, and cleaning agents.
Use of optical hand tools is required for adjusting and repairing members’ eyeglasses, including insertion and removal of nose pads and small screws.
