Position

Summary

As the Receptionist, you will serve as the first point of contact for every guest entering Hypotency Cannabis. You will be responsible for creating a warm and professional welcome, ensuring compliance through age and identification verification, managing guest check-ins, and maintaining an organized lobby experience. Your ability to provide exceptional hospitality while supporting operational efficiency will play a critical role in delivering the elevated customer experience Hypotency Cannabis is known for.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet every guest with professionalism, warmth, and exceptional hospitality.
  • Verify customer identification and age in accordance with all New York State cannabis regulations and company policies.
  • Check customers into the dispensary and create or update customer profiles within the POS system.
  • Manage lobby traffic and ensure an efficient, organized guest flow throughout the dispensary.
  • Communicate estimated wait times and set clear expectations while maintaining a positive guest experience.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, respond to general inquiries, and direct calls to the appropriate team members.
  • Provide guests with information regarding products, store hours, promotions, loyalty programs, and dispensary policies.
  • Assist first-time guests by explaining the check-in process and enrolling them in the loyalty program.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area that reflects the premium Hypotency Cannabis brand.
  • Coordinate with Bud tenders and management to ensure seamless guest transitions from check-in to the sales floor.
  • Assist with administrative duties including filing, data entry, documentation, and record keeping.
  • Observe the reception area for any security concerns or unusual activity and immediately notify management when necessary.
  • Deliver a luxury-level customer experience while maintaining professionalism, discretion, and compliance at all times.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, reception, concierge, or retail preferred.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable learning and utilizing POS systems and customer management software.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive customer information with discretion.
  • Must meet all eligibility requirements to work within the New York State cannabis industry.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous cannabis dispensary experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience in luxury retail, hospitality, hotels, concierge, or guest services is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with cannabis products and a willingness to continue learning through company education and training.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position or move throughout the dispensary as needed during scheduled shifts.
  • Ability to move throughout the dispensary to greet guests, assist team members, and perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Ability to operate computers, tablets, telephones, point-of-sale (POS) systems, and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to occasionally move products, supplies, or materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, coworkers, and management in person, by phone, and electronically.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail.
