Electrical Controls Engineer

This role focuses on electrical troubleshooting, controls retrofits & upgrades, field service support, and customer issue resolution. You’ll collaborate closely with our field service team, engineering peers, and valued customers to enhance equipment performance and minimize downtime. This position reports to the Manager of Controls Engineering and is based on-site in Deer Park, NY, with regular travel to customer locations.

• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and controls issues on existing packaging equipment.
• Provide technical support to field service technicians and customer service teams.
• Design and implement retrofit solutions, including schematic updates and control system upgrades.
• Travel to customer facilities as needed for installation support, system diagnostics, and retrofit implementation.
• Assist in documenting changes and creating updated schematics using AutoCAD Electrical.
• Program and modify PLCs, HMIs, and servo systems to enhance machine functionality.
• Partner with engineering and manufacturing teams to analyze recurring issues and implement long‑term solutions.
• Up to 15% travel within North America.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience with electrical controls systems, ideally in the packaging or automation industry.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting PLC and HMI systems (Allen‑Bradley/Rockwell preferred).
• Hands‑on experience with AutoCAD Electrical and control panel schematics.
• Willingness to travel domestically for on‑site customer support (approx. 10–15%).
• Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working directly with customers and field teams.
• Preferred Experience:
  • Experience with retrofit projects or aftermarket support in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with UL, NEMA, and CE standards.
  • Knowledge of servo motor systems and industrial networking.

Base Salary Range: $105,000 - $120,000. Total compensation includes your pay, potential short‑term incentive opportunities, comprehensive medical/dental/vision programs, as well as life insurance, disability insurance, paid time off programs, a retirement savings plan with a company match, and a wellness program.
