Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal teams to build and execute materials management strategies that support overall supply chain, procurement, and inventory goals.
- Lead supplier negotiations and establish long‑term partnerships that align with organizational objectives.
- Coordinate production schedules, material needs, and planning systems to ensure operational readiness.
- Maintain inventory at optimal levels, including the implementation of Just‑In‑Time methodologies where appropriate.
- Create and refine purchasing procedures, documentation, and workflows. Drive supplier and cross‑functional initiatives focused on reducing lead times, improving fill rates, enhancing quality, and lowering costs.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements; present recommendations, assess potential impacts, and execute approved changes.
- Review Material Requirements Planning (MRP) outputs for all product lines, generating and adjusting purchase orders accordingly. Communicate risks or discrepancies to relevant teams and suppliers.
- Monitor and ensure accuracy of MRP data, performing audits and updates as needed to maintain system integrity.
- Partner with Quality, Operations, Engineering, Sales, and external suppliers to resolve material and quality‑related issues.
- Evaluate new suppliers and materials alongside Quality and Engineering teams to support strategic sourcing initiatives. Manage the disposition of excess or obsolete materials.
- Oversee warehouse operations to ensure efficient storage, handling, and distribution of materials and equipment.
- Develop and implement logistics methods and policies that support cost‑effective material movement in and out of facilities.
- Analyze inventory, delivery challenges, and related performance metrics to recommend corrective actions.
- 5–8 years of experience in inventory management, purchasing, or materials management.
- Proven background in negotiating supplier agreements within cost‑competitive environments.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Experience with global sourcing and vendor management.
- Professional certifications such as C.P.M., C.P.I.M., or similar are preferred.
