Position Summary – As an Assistant Manager you are responsible for ensuring that associates provide exceptional customer service while achieving sales goals. This includes ensuring customer satisfaction, driving sales, building sales skills and product knowledge, maximizing productivity and profitability, identifying sales opportunities, and setting customer service standards. You must demonstrate knowledge of the store’s purpose and goals and help associates reach those goals.
Key Responsibilities- Associate Staff Accountability – Hold Associate Staff accountable to their responsibilities and company standards.
- Staff Development and Training – Plan and conduct training sessions.
- Customer Service – Use the sales observational checklist, address complaints, monitor E.C.E.T., conduct mystery shops, and provide helpful 101 guidance.
- Inventory Standards – Ensure marketing ads are set/removed, RSO compliance, maintain in‑stock ad bulletins, and track A/B outs reports.
- Communication – Communicate sales goals and company announcements with the team.
- Store Financials – Review sales totals versus plan, margin percentages, and payroll-to-sales ratios.
- Merchandising Functions & Aisle Assignments – Follow company standards, recover aisles, and assign product placement.
- Inventory Reports – Manage Mango, New Item, Negative On Hands, A & B Outs, and ICE/Discontinued reports.
- POG Standards – Update Plano‑gram, handle product recalls, maintain in‑stock standards, and manage clip strips and wing panels.
- End Cap and AD Presentation – Ensure full, impactful displays and coordinate with the store manager on ad bulletins.
- Signage – Set marketing ad events, perform weekly price changes, and review daily exception reports.
- B2B – Monitor and grow new and existing accounts (MCR).
- Operations Functions (Receiving) – Fax and mail packing slips, maintain stockroom/basement standards, and process damages.
- Front End – Ready buyers’ zone, stock register lanes, ensure cashier compliance, and maintain a clean front.
- Facilities & Maintenance – Clean bathrooms and floors, maintain building lighting and safety.
- Training – Lead associate training programs, skill matrix boards, forklift training, mystery shops, and communication board updates.
- HR/Office Paperwork – Process new hire paperwork, conduct employee reviews, maintain personal files, and keep the handbook up to date.
- Schedule & Inventory Process – Create management and employee schedules, prep for day of inventory.
- Other Requirements – Follow the E.C.E.T. process, greet customers, answer questions, maintain awareness of promotions, execute S.A.L.E.S., keep areas tidy, assist in training, participate in huddles, protect assets, report safety concerns and pricing errors, and perform additional tasks as directed.
- Physical Requirements – Walking, standing, stooping, reaching, lifting up to 60 lbs., hand dexterity for register use, moving hand jacks, carrying up to 50 lbs., occasional climbing, and constant vision and hearing for safety signals.
