Responsibilities & Duties
- Execute, monitor, and train inventory best practices and SOPs for the entire store, including front end and pharmacy.
- Support pharmacy inventory management (receiving, counting, ordering, returns) and manage all in‑store inventory processes (receiving, counting, pricing, returns).
- Validate planograms and ensure on‑shelf availability.
- Review and coordinate use of reports and system applications that affect front end and pharmacy balances and pricing accuracy.
- Execute front end and pharmacy asset protection techniques and file claims for overages, shortages, order errors or damaged goods, including prescription drugs.
- Open and close the store in the absence of management, handling all required system start‑ups, cash handling, cashier duties, and ensuring floor and stock room readiness.
- Engage customers by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services; resolve issues and answer questions when serving as leader on duty.
- Model and share customer service best practices, including greeting, eye contact, courtesy, proactive help, and full service until satisfied.
- Coach team members on warehouse and vendor inventory processes (creating, reviewing, receiving orders).
- Scan all deliveries while vendor is in store, focus on One Box receiving, mark deliveries as received, contact vendor for undelivered receipts, and open tickets for inaccuracies.
- Under pharmacist supervision, verify pharmacy shipments and postings for received products, complete or verify postings of pharmacy orders and shortages or damaged product.
- Execute On‑Shelf Availability (OSA) end‑to‑end process, including disposals, call‑ins, and vendor returns before expiration.
- Complete pharmacy inventory activities (recalls, vendor returns, salvage returns, inter‑store transfers) and verify all pharmacy claims postings.
- Execute all pricing activities (price changes, markdowns, deletes, daily price changes, regulatory pricing tasks).
- Support front end and pharmacy ordering of expense items and monitor manual orders to identify excess orders.
- Ensure pull & quarantine item on‑hands are updated and placed in the designated holding area.
- Maintain accurate inventory counts for basic departments, stockroom, overstock, and pharmacy smart counts.
- Ensure the store complies with state and local laws regarding regulated products.
- Maintain inventory records (receiving, posting, files, invoices/receipts/return authorizations).
- Prepare for and support physical inventory days, including floor, stockroom, and pharmacy preparation and auditing.
- Keep all counters and shelves clean and well merchandised.
- Stay knowledgeable of all store systems and equipment.
- Assist and coach team on package delivery activities and Pickup Program execution.
- As leader on duty, register all sales, handle scanning errors, price verifications, voids, returns, refunds, cash drops, and provide change.
- Comply with company policies, maintain respectful relationships with coworkers, and complete any additional tasks as assigned.
- Attend company‑based trainings and complete all e‑learning modules, including safety training.
- Obtain and maintain a valid pharmacy license/certification required by state.
- Act as liaison between management and non‑management team members by coaching and developing inventory system capabilities; report disciplinary issues and customer complaints to management.
- Six months of prior work experience with Walgreens (internal candidates) or one year of prior retail work experience (external candidates).
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- “Achieving expectations” rating on last performance review and no written disciplinary actions in last 12 months (internal candidates only).
- Attention to detail and ability to multi‑task and manage execution.
- Experience identifying operational issues and recommending/implementing solutions.
- Prefer previous experience as a shift lead, pharmacy technician, designated hitter, or customer service associate.
- Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens, with an evaluation on file.
