PEMEX Deer Park is a highly complex refinery located 18 miles east of Houston in Deer Park, TX, and is a part of the PEMEX group which is a fully integrated oil company in the Americas, working across the entire value chain: exploration, production, industrial processing/refining, logistics and marketing. PEMEX Deer Park provides a diverse and inclusive work environment that employs approximately 1000 employees with another 1200 contractors on site.

The refinery’s rated capacity is 340,000 barrels per day and has the feed flexibility to process multiple grades of crudes to produce the high-quality transportation fuels the world needs. The PEMEX Deer Park site is co-located with other 3rd party chemical facilities allowing for further integration and optimization of the refinery and its products. At PEMEX Deer Park, the role of the Associate Mechanical Engineer is to provide engineering support to the assigned production area and deliver year-on-year improvements to asset integrity and reliability of equipment, ensuring safe operations and sound environmental performance. To accomplish this, the role is empowered to be the owner of static and rotating equipment within their operating units.

Key areas for operational equipment competency include:

• Rotating Equipment:
  Pumps, Electric Motors, General Purpose Turbines, Shaft Sealing Systems, Lubrication Systems, Fin Fans, and Blowers
• Static Equipment:
  Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Piping Systems, Valves, Relief Devices, Bolted Joint Integrity, and Temporary Repairs

Influence budget through proactive identification and prioritization of maintenance expenditures:

• Contributes to the development and delivery of their respective production areas’ major maintenance and operational expense budgets.
• Monitors spend on maintenance work executed within the production area.
• Prepares and submits well-defined work scopes and investment proposals to asset managers and site leadership teams.
• Performs life cycle cost analyses to evaluate repair vs. replace alternatives and implement effective and cost-efficient solutions.

Build strong working relationships with and leverage support from a broad range of stakeholders and peers, including:

• Production Team – Asset Manager, Productions Specialists, Operators, Maintenance Supervisor, Inspectors, Process Engineers, and Safety Representative
• Central Engineering – Rotating and Static Equipment subject matter experts, other engineering counterparts in Electrical, Civil, Control Systems and Environmental Engineering.
• Maintenance and Turnarounds – Planners, Execution Team Leads, Field Coordinators, and Cost Controllers
• Project Engineering
• Support Functions – Finance Advisor, Capital Planning Focal Point, Contracts & Procurement.
• Third Parties – Vendors, Fabrication/Repair Shops, and Engineering Contractor
