Primary Function
The Project Manager is responsible for the full lifecycle management of electrical construction projects within DACON’s substation and power systems portfolio, including active participation in project estimating and bid development. The Project Manager leads cross‑functional project teams, manages client relationships, and ensures projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget, while contributing to competitive and accurate estimates for new high‑voltage and power construction opportunities.
The position will be based in our Deer Park, Texas office located at 1300 Underwood Rd, Deer Park, TX 77536 and will report to Dacon’s Director of Project Management.
Employee may be called upon to perform any orall ofthe following functions:
Manage all phases of electrical construction projects — including planning, procurement, execution, and closeout — for substation and medium- to high‑voltage power system projects.
Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules, budgets, and cost forecasts; proactivelyidentifyand resolve schedule and cost deviations.
Serve as the primary client contact for day‑to‑day project communications; build andmaintainstrong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
Lead project kickoff meetings and recurring project review meetings with internal teams, subcontractors, and client stakeholders.
Manage subcontracts, vendor agreements, and material procurement in coordination with the procurement team.
Direct and mentor Assistant Project Managers and project support staff assigned to projects.
Administer the project change management process including identification, pricing, negotiation, and documentation of change orders.
Review and approve project invoices, cost coding, and monthly cost reports; forecast project financial performance through completion.
Coordinate with field supervision and engineering to resolve technical issues andmaintainproject quality standards.
Ensure full compliance with project safety plans, Dacon’s safety standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Prepare and present project status reports, schedule updates, and financial summaries for senior management and clients.
Prepare and manage complete project estimates for assigned bid opportunities, including labor, material, subcontractor, and equipment costs for substation and medium- to high-voltage electrical construction projects.
Lead pre‑bid site walks and bid strategy discussions; coordinate subcontractor and vendor solicitations to support competitive and accurate estimates.
Review and validate estimate assumptions, exclusions, and clarifications; participate in the bid review and approval process prior to proposal submission.
Support the handoff from estimate to execution by clearly communicating cost assumptions, scope inclusions/exclusions, and risk items to the project delivery team.
Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned or requested.
Drive safe, on‑time, and on‑budget delivery of electrical construction projects, directly contributing to Dacon’s revenue and profitability.
Strengthen client relationships through proactive communication, issue resolution, and consistent delivery of project commitments.
Develop and mentor junior project management staff, building organizational capacity and supporting career growth within the team.
Protect project financial health by maintaining rigorous cost controls and actively managing the change order process.
Contribute to business growth by developing accurate, competitive estimates that support successful bids on high‑voltage and power construction projects.
Advance Dacon’s safety culture by championing compliance with safety plans and modeling leadership behaviors in the field.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree on a year-for-year basis (4 years = Bachelor’s equivalent).
