Core Laboratories is the Reservoir Optimization Company

The Laboratory Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating laboratory operations, ensuring accurate and timely analysis of fuel samples (petroleum and biofuels) in accordance with client specifications and standard testing methods. The role involves managing the flow of information between clients, chemists, and other internal teams to ensure that all analyses are completed efficiently, problems are resolved promptly, and final reports are issued accurately and on time.

Additionally, the Lab Coordinator is responsible for maintaining lab databases, updating client portals, and ensuring compliance with all operational procedures. This role includes some shift work and on‑call duties to support the 24/7 nature of laboratory operations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients, providing regular updates regarding their operations.
  • Coordinate and prepare analysis instructions for chemists, ensuring that all essential aspects are briefed before analysis begins.
  • Monitor operations closely alongside chemists, lab managers, and supervisors to address any issues or changes, updating clients throughout the process.
  • Offer consultation on standard test methods and quality calculations upon client request.
  • Prepare confirmations and obtain client approval for any method changes.
  • Ensure the accuracy of analysis reports, perform corrections and reviews before submitting to clients.
  • Assist with any additional tasks or duties as required to support lab operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working as a chemist.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory processes and standard test methods, particularly in the analysis of petroleum and biofuels (highly advantageous).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

The Company requires laboratory technicians to meet the following physical qualifications:

  • Pass the drug and alcohol test specified for safety‑sensitive employees.
  • Be able to work in the presence of odors typical of petroleum or petrochemicals without allergic reactions or nausea when such odors are within OSHA‑designated permissible exposure limits (PELs).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear; and test or smell. The employee frequently is required to walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Laboratory personnel must regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
