Project Engineer - Open due to Growth!

Houston Ship Channel Area

Position Summary

A well-established chemical manufacturing company located in the Houston Ship Channel area is seeking a Project Engineer to support capital projects, process improvements, and plant reliability initiatives.

This position offers the opportunity to manage projects from concept through startup while working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Production, EHS, and Engineering teams. Projects typically range from $50,000 to $5 million and focus on improving safety, reliability, quality, and production efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Manage capital and expense projects from planning through startup.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, contractors, and construction activities.
  • Provide technical support for plant operations and process improvements.
  • Support troubleshooting, equipment upgrades, and reliability initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, MOC, PSM, and company procedures.
  • Maintain project documentation, engineering drawings, and project records.
  • Communicate project status and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following is preferred:

  • Chemical, petrochemical, or industrial manufacturing
  • Capital project management
  • Pumps, piping, pressure vessels, utilities, and rotating equipment
  • Instrumentation, PLCs, DCS, MCCs, and VFDs
  • Material handling, blending, dryers, and process equipment
  • Process optimization and manufacturing reliability
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred. Chemical, Electrical, Civil, Process, or other engineering degrees will also be considered.
  • 0–5 years of engineering experience in chemical manufacturing, petrochemical, refining, energy, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of capital project execution, MOC, PSM, and industrial safety practices.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in both office and plant environments.
