Overview
Electrical & Instrumentation Lead Estimator
:
This is a working lead position which includes reviewing RFQ’s and assigning estimators. Establishing complete electrical and instrumentation proposals for Industrial, renewable, petrochemical, and refinery projects including review of specifications and plans, quantity survey, establishing labor units, material and equipment pricing, preparation and review of vendor and subcontract quotes, site visits, and proposal presentation
- Reviews documents / Requests for Proposals to understand project details and requirement
- Assigns Request for Proposals to estimators and maintains accurate proposal log
- Reviews and interprets engineering documentation such as drawings/specifications/scope of work
- Provides detailed and accurate quantity and component take-offs against the technical drawings, specifications and scope of work documentation
- Advice on potential problem areas and advise on the best possible solutions to the project team during the cost estimating exercise
- Provides timely clarifications for ongoing submission within the tender duration
- Provides current and competitive industry schedule of rates against the take-off
- Communicates and negotiates competitive rates with suppliers and sub-contractor
- Provides cost data and input into the Proposal formats required by the documentation
- Supports estimates with structures and details where required
- Sources and collates additional information related to the requirements to support the bid proposal
- Collects and checks bids against estimates to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Coordinate with other discipline Estimators and Engineers
- Responsible for inputting cost information into and maintaining a database for historical and contemporary data
- Minimum 10 years’ Experience in Industrial Electrical, Instrumentation Estimation
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to work within diverse environment
- Excellent communication skills (both written & verbal) with ability to interact across multiple disciplines. (Engineering, Civil, Mechanical, Soft Crafts)
- A high level of computer literacy, basically MS Excel, MS Word and Power point
- Ensure the Cost Estimating database reflects current market rates and client data
- Coordinate with Engineering Discipline Engineers to obtain necessary input for Level of Estimation
- Coordinate with Procurement Department and Vendors for Cost Input
- Coordinate with Project Control Department to obtain Execution Schedule at various project stages
- Prepare Cost Estimate for Submission to Client
- Prepare, maintain and update historical cost data
