How You’ll Make an Impact- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in equipment failures and repair techniques during root cause investigations.
- Work closely with the Maintenance Technologist to ensure jobs include both technical and field experience during troubleshooting, procedures, repair plans, etc.
- Provide technical expertise to plant personnel on troubleshooting failures, repairs, and evaluate whether equipment meets its intended service conditions.
- For critical equipment, ensure work requests include engineering input on repair details such as clearances, tolerances, materials of construction, welding procedures, etc.
- Provide onsite/offsite technical support for deviations from engineering data when necessary.
- Ensure repairs and repair techniques are documented and training is provided.
- Supply technical support for specification, identification, and purchasing of required parts.
- Provide maintainability input into Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) strategy.
- Support the PPM coordinator in reviewing spare parts lists for existing equipment.
- Assist Operations in developing operating procedures (e.g., steps for starting/stopping a pump).
- Review operations logbook for unusual activity requiring support.
- Collaborate with the Reliability Engineer on facility and equipment maintenance strategies.
- Offer engineering input to planners’ job plans and job packages to ensure standards are followed.
- Review History Feedback forms for unusual findings and provide feedback to planners and crafts.
- Serve as a technical resource to planners and crafts as needed.
- Contribute engineering input to turnaround work orders, especially for critical equipment requiring review.
- Write and support the development of maintenance procedures.
- Work with the Maintenance Technologist to monitor jobs internally and externally, ensuring quality repairs.
- Assist in training Crafts, Operations, and other staff.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
- Minimum 3 years of maintenance engineering experience in a chemical processing or manufacturing environment.
- Experience with SAP within the maintenance department.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
- Standing, walking, or operating equipment for extended periods.
- Working in a lab or manufacturing setting with appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Use of computers and digital tools in an office or hybrid environment.
- Occasional lifting or movement of materials.
- Adherence to rigorous safety protocols and ergonomic standards.
