Position: Senior Automation Specialist (DeltaV)

About the Role

Triad Control Systems is seeking an experienced Automation Specialist proficient with the DeltaV control system to join our growing team of automation professionals. This is a hands-on technical role programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning Emerson DeltaV as well as other control system platforms in real-world industrial environments. You’ll work on a variety of challenging projects supporting everything from system migrations and plant expansions to new installations and modernization projects.

Responsibilities

  • Configuration, testing and commissioning of control systems and related deliverables.
  • Support control system upgrades, migrations, expansions, and modernization projects.
  • Perform system testing, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, communications, and process control issues both remotely and at customer sites.
  • Interface DeltaV systems with PLCs, HMIs, historians, OPC servers, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, and other third-party systems.
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, loop drawings, control narratives, cause-and-effect diagrams, I/O lists, and functional design specifications.
  • Assist with systems architecture, controller configuration, network layouts, and I/O assignments.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, designers, technicians, and client personnel to successfully execute automation projects.
  • Document configuration changes and maintain project documentation throughout all phases of execution.
  • Provide technical support during plat turnarounds, outages, and production support activities.
  • Participate in field walk-downs, system checkout, loop checks, and commissioning activities.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to safety while following Triad Control Systems’ and client safety policies and procedures.
  • Deliver high-quality solutions while maintaining strong customer relationships and identifying opportunities to provide additional value to our clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related fields, or equivalent technical experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in the Automation field.
  • Extensive experience with DeltaV BPCS, DeltaV Live graphics development, DeltaV Operate-to-DeltaV Live migration programs, systems upgrades, and/or large-scale DeltaV implementation.
  • Experience with Rockwell, GE, Siemens, or other platforms is preferred.
  • Experience in refining, petrochemical, chemical manufacturing, oil & gas, LNG, power generation, pulp & paper, or industrial manufacturing facilities is preferred.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated expertise with Emerson DeltaV Control System configuration/programming.
  • Experience with other automation systems including PLCs, SCADA, DCS, and HMI.
  • System integration experience with PLCs and other third-party devices.
  • Comprehensive understanding of control systems project documentation.
  • Understanding of control system networks and connectivity.
  • Familiarity with relevant Automation industry standards.
  • Ability to make independent technical decisions and provide guidance on complex migration and modernization challenges.
  • Works well with others within a team and takes accountability.
  • Comfortable with both office and plant environments.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform field walkdowns in operating industrial facilities.
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and access elevated structures when required.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in industrial environments.
