Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled, experienced Pump Mechanic to support repair center operations, field service needs, and customer repair work. This role is responsible for the inspection, disassembly, repair, reassembly, and testing of centrifugal pumps and related rotating equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong hands‑on pump repair experience, be able to work with limited supervision, read and interpret technical drawings and work scopes, and perform precision mechanical work to meet customer expectations for quality, safety, and on‑time delivery.

This is a strong fit for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, understands the importance of accurate inspections and documentation, and can help support a fast‑paced industrial repair environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Disassemble, inspect, repair, reassemble, and test centrifugal pumps and related components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, repair scopes, process sheets, and written or verbal instructions.
  • Perform precision mechanical work to close tolerances, including tolerances up to .0005” where required.
  • Use precision measuring tools including gauges, calipers, micrometers, and related inspection equipment.
  • Complete inspection reports, repair documentation, and required job records accurately.
  • Identify worn, damaged, or out‑of‑tolerance components and communicate findings to supervision, technical support, or quality.
  • Work with metallic and non‑metallic materials used in pump repair and rotating equipment service.
  • Perform fitting, assembly, alignment, and related mechanical repair work.
  • Sharpen tools and maintain tools, work areas, and equipment in a safe and orderly condition.
  • Operate or assist with complex shop equipment requiring close attention and safe work practices.
  • Follow established repair procedures, quality standards, safety rules, and company policies.
  • Support the repair center’s ability to meet customer expectations for safety, quality, responsiveness, and on‑time delivery.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while knowing when to escape questions, risks, or repair concerns.
  • Support overtime, call‑ins, and schedule adjustments as needed to meet customer requirements.
  • Travel approximately 10–15% as needed to support field service callouts or customer site work.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a centrifugal pump repair shop or closely related rotating equipment repair environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work scopes, and technical instructions.
  • Experience disassembling, repairing, reassembling, and testing centrifugal pumps.
  • Proficient with precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and related equipment.
  • Ability to complete inspection reports and repair documentation accurately.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and handle components weighing approximately 5 to 60 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in an industrial repair shop environment.
  • Ability to work overtime, call‑ins, and occasional travel as business needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with multiple pump types, sizes, and configurations.
  • Experience supporting field service work or customer site repairs.
  • Knowledge of pump fits, clearances, alignment, bearing installation, mechanical seals, impellers, sleeves, cases, shafts, and rotating assemblies.
  • Experience identifying repair needs and communicating technical findings to supervisors, engineers, or customers.
  • Ability to mentor less‑experienced mechanics or assist with training when needed.

Strong understanding of safety, quality, and customer‑focused repair practices.
Benefits

In return, we offer fair framework conditions for collective wages and pensions, flexible working time models, individual training opportunities and the best career prospects.
