The Mechanic IV is a highly skilled technical role responsible for disassembly, positioning, reassembly, testing and painting of moderate to highly complex equipment utilizing a combination of manual, pneumatic and hydraulic tools for fitting, adjusting, and securing maneuvers. Clean, inspect and repair natural gas engines and compressor components in a shop environment, and adhere to all Environmental, Health and Safety rules and regulations.

Read detailed prints, use and read micrometers, dial calipers and dial indicators. In addition to expert-level mechanical work, you will work with a team of technicians to install, outfit with testing instrumentation, fill industrial engines with fluids, test run, record pertinent data and decommission the engines once complete.

• Apply advanced mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills to diagnose, repair, and restore complex natural gas engines (including CAT 3600 and Waukesha 7042/7044 in-frame complete shop zero-hour overhauls) and compressor components.
• Conduct all business-related tasks according to Cooper Machinery Services policies.

• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment.
• Have strong mechanical aptitude with an Oil & Gas background and the ability to use a wide range of mechanical tools and test equipment.
• Complete Risk Assessments prior to performing all operations and light to heavy weight material movements by means of cranes and lift trucks.
• Complete all required business training and process documentation, as required.
• Be responsible for ensuring facility equipment and tooling is accounted for, operating efficiently, and safely.
• Identify, report, and mitigate problems or hazardous conditions that occur during equipment disassembly, assembly and test setup.
• Possess excellent communication, teamwork, and collaborative skills with team members and a basic understanding of working to production schedules/plans.
• Ensure departmental compliance with all applicable quality, health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on mechanical tooling & equipment.
• Complete required documentation with accurate information for routers, documents and inspection reports.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or indicated by management.

• High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school or institution.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical test and assembly/disassembly or heavy equipment repairs and maintenance.

• Work overtime, weekends and holidays as required.
• Work in a constant pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending and other physical activities.
• Be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing and sitting, as required.
• Lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Be subjected to extreme heat for extended periods of time.
• Work inside and outside, as required.
• Interpret drawings, prints, drawings and engineering specifications to perform moderately complex, repetitive disassembly and reassembly tasks of all pressure control equipment.
