Analytical ChemistFull Time Technical Professional in Deer Park, TX, US
This position is part of the Laboratory organization in the Technology group. The Analytical Chemist provides technical support for laboratory instrumentation and analytical methods, serving as front‑line support for instrument and method calibration, validation, troubleshooting, statistical quality control, and overall technical assurance. The role works closely with Laboratory Technicians, Process Chemists, the Product Quality Focal Point, vendors, and Production teams.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- Apply ASTM test methodologies for crude, intermediate, and finished products.
- Install, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for laboratory instrumentation.
- Apply knowledge of ASTM D6299 and standard laboratory SQC practices.
- Provide technical training on analytical methods and instrumentation to laboratory technicians.
- Support Operations and Process Chemists with analytical expertise.
- Participate in and support the Management of Change (MOC) process.
- Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Experience with chemometrics techniques (NIR, Raman, etc).
- Knowledge of standard refinery operating units and processes.
- Hands on experience with GC, GC-MS, HPLC, ICP, ICP‑MS, IC, distillation, signal‑to‑noise analysis.
- EPA Fuels Compliance knowledge and experience.

Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of industrial laboratory experience.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or higher in Chemistry or a related scientific field.
- Demonstrated experience with analytical testing methods and laboratory equipment.
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full‑time basis.
Physical requirements:
- Occasional extended work hours during planned and unplanned events.
- Must hold or qualify to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
