Position: Laboratory Technician I - Wet Chemistry

As a Wet Chem Technician I at Onterris, you’ll assist multiple projects and interact with multidisciplinary staff, regulatory agencies, and clients. You will be part of a strong team of committed professionals.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am to 5pm

Compensation: $20.00 to $22.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze water and soil samples for alkalinity, conductivity (EC), pH, settleable solids, total dissolved solids (TDS), total suspended solids (TSS), and turbidity.
  • Analyze water and soil samples for oil & grease, oil & grease with silica cleanup, cyanide, sulfides, BTU, corrosivity, ferrous iron, flash point, ignitability, MBAS, phenols, ortho and total phosphates, reactive cyanide, reactive sulfide, and salinity.
  • Analyze water and soil samples for ammonia, BOD, COD, hexavalent chromium, and TOCWB.
  • Clean laboratory glassware.
  • Maintain clean laboratory areas.
  • Maintain organized records of sample preparation and analysis.
  • Conduct overhead projects designed to improve the efficiency or accuracy of analyses.
  • Assist group leaders and analysts in acquiring and inventorying consumables, chemicals, and parts for instrumentation.
  • Comply with Onterris Quality Assurance Program, Health & Safety Program, and other policies.
  • Other duties as assigned by the group leader or lab director.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
  • One year of relevant lab experience allows direct advancement to Tech II (academic lab experience counts).
Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of analytical methods, analytical instruments, general lab practices, and lab safety.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Good organizational skills and strong communication skills.
Work Environment and

Physical Requirements
  • Sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Lifting 50 pounds several times a day.
  • Overhead lifting of over 20 pounds.
  • Works in an office environment.
  • May be exposed to hot and cold environments.
  • May occasionally work shifts up to 12 hours in duration.
