Job Description
Industrial Pipe Fitter tasked with assembling, laying out, installing, and maintaining pipe systems on steam, fluid, or gas lines. Duties span across various sites – buildings, outdoor areas, tanks, boilers, underground excavations, and heights up to 300 ft.
Position SummaryThe role involves reading blueprints and specifications, identifying required materials, identifying tools and safety risks, fabricating, installing and fitting pipe to specifications, installing valves and supports, testing system quality, and hoisting loads with rigging equipment.
Qualification Highlights- 4+ years as an Industrial Pipe Fitter or Pipe Fitter Helper
- Proficient in reading and interpreting prints and pipe fitting procedures
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Experience on industrial construction projects
- Read blueprints and specifications to determine scope of work, locations, quantities and material sizes
- Identify all tools required for tasks
- Identify safety risks and implement precautions
- Prepare, fabricate, install, and fit pipe to specifications
- Install valves, hangars, supports, flanges per plans and specifications
- Perform tests to ensure quality of pipe and piping systems
- Hoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment
- No direct reports; works closely with and occasionally oversees helpers and laborers, exercising positional authority over those roles
Required Qualifications
- Industrial construction/maintenance history experience
- Ability to read prints and construction drawings
- Ability to read and interpret technical and manufacturer manuals
- Knowledge of pipe fitting processes for industrial piping and boiler components in a combined‑cycle power plant
- 4+ years experience with pipe fitting processes
- Good problem‑solving abilities
- Manual dexterity and aptitude
- Strong reading comprehension
- Team player; works well with others
- Independent worker with minimal supervision
- Effective communication skills with co‑workers and supervisors
