Mackay Marine is currently seeking an experienced Marine Electronics Technician (MET) with the skills and qualifications outlined below to join our Houston depot located in Deer Park, TX.

Under limited supervision, Marine Electronics Technicians install, service, and repair marine electronic equipment such as radios, radars, sonars, etc. on-board commercial ships. They test, adjust, and troubleshoot components, and antennas as well as loading, updating, and modifying software. METs utilize their knowledge of electronic theory and circuitry to address a variety of technical problems. They also make intelligent use of complex schematics, blueprints, and manuals to accurately achieve assignments and upon completion, will compose a detailed service report.

  • Satcoms
  • HF and VHF Radios
  • GPS
  • Sounders
  • Sonars
  • 3+ years of MSE, MET, ET, or AT experience in commercial shipping and/or acquired in the Navy, Coast Guard, or Marines.
  • Associate degree or equivalent technical training and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of electronics theory and application.
  • Valid FCC General License with Radar Endorsement and GMDSS Radio Operator Maintainer License preferred.
  • Be physically fit. Work environment often involves carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders and masts, and exposure to weather.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required.
