Marine Electronics Technician – Miami

Mackay Marine has an opening for an experienced Marine Electronics Technician (MET) in our ‘Miami’ depot located in Miramar, FL.

Under limited supervision, the Marine Electronics Technician (MET) installs, services, and repairs electronic equipment such as Radios, Radars, GPS, Autopilots, etc. on board ships. METs will test, adjust, and troubleshoot components, PCBs, and sub-assemblies as well as to load, update, and modify software. Marine Electronics Technicians utilize their knowledge of electronic theory and circuitry to address a variety of technical problems and make intelligent use of complex schematics, blueprints, and manuals to accurately achieve assignments.

Upon completing the job, the MET composes a detailed service report.

• HF and VHF Radios
• GPS
• Gyrocompasses
• Autopilots
• Sounders

• 3+ years of experience as an MET or ET in commercial shipping or the Navy, Coast Guard, or Marines.
• Associate’s Degree or equivalent education, training, and experience.
• Strong knowledge of electronics theory and application.
• Valid FCC General License with Radar Endorsement and GMDSS Radio Operator Maintainer License preferred.
• Be physically fit. Work environment often involves carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders and masts, and exposure to weather.
• Valid drivers license and reliable transportation is required.
