About the Role:As a Lineman I, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical power lines and equipment. You will work outdoors in all weather conditions, often at great heights, to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of electricity to our customers. Your work will be critical to the success of our company and the communities we serve.
Minimum Qualifications:- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a recognized Lineman apprenticeship program
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work at heights and in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and materials
- Associate's degree in Electrical Technology or related field
- Experience working as a Lineman or in a related field
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical power lines and equipment
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on power lines and equipment
- Respond to power outages and other emergencies to restore service
- Operate and maintain specialized tools and equipment
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures
As a Lineman I, you will use your knowledge of electrical systems and equipment to install, maintain, and repair power lines. You will also use your physical strength and dexterity to climb poles and operate specialized tools and equipment. In addition, you will need to communicate effectively with team members and customers, and follow all safety procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
Your attention to detail and problem-solving skills will be critical to identifying and resolving issues with power lines and equipment.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, reach, climb, balance, push, and pull while performing welding and fabrication activities.
- Ability to perform welding in multiple positions and body orientations, including standing, kneeling, crouching, bending, and working in restricted-access areas.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand, arm, and upper-body movements associated with welding, grinding, cutting, fitting, and material handling.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and handle heavier materials or equipment using appropriate assistance or material-handling equipment.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work from scaffolds, elevated work platforms, pipe racks, and other industrial work areas as required.
- Ability to work on uneven, muddy, rocky, or otherwise variable walking and working surfaces.
- Ability to work outdoors in heat, humidity, cold, rain, wind, and other weather conditions.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, welding hood, face shield, gloves, hearing protection, FR clothing, steel-toed footwear, FR clothing, fall protection, respiratory protection and other project-specific PPE.
- Work is primarily performed at active industrial construction, maintenance, turnaround, and customer facilities.
- Work may be performed in refinery, petrochemical, chemical, LNG, power generation, manufacturing, and other heavy industrial environments.
- Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, temperature extremes, noise, vibration, dust, dirt, fumes, moving equipment, piping systems, and other conditions typical of industrial construction and maintenance.
- Regular exposure to welding arcs, sparks, hot metal, welding fumes, gases, noise, vibration, dust, moving equipment, outdoor weather conditions, temperature extremes, and other conditions typical of industrial welding and construction.
- Work may be performed around operating process units, piping systems, elevated work areas, excavations, structures, mobile equipment, and ongoing construction or maintenance activities.
- Work may require the use of ladders, scaffolds, elevated work platforms, fall-protection systems, ventilation equipment, and respiratory protection as applicable to assigned work.
