Job Overview:The Learning Experience is seeking an experienced Director of Accounting to lead and oversee accounting operations for a growing, multi-entity organization. This onsite leadership role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, managing the close process, strengthening internal controls, and supporting operational excellence across the Finance function.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, leadership experience, and a hands‑on approach to process improvement. This role partners closely with senior leadership, including the Controller and CFO, while leading key accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, reconciliations, financial reporting, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:Accounting Operations and Financial Reporting
- Lead the monthly and annual financial close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with US GAAP
- Oversee journal entries, account reconciliations, intercompany accounting, and general ledger integrity
- Ensure accurate financial reporting across multiple business units and entities
- Support preparation of financial statements, reporting packages, and leadership reporting
- Strengthen accounting controls, policies, and procedures to improve accuracy and operational efficiency
- Support implementation and maintenance of SOX controls and audit readiness initiatives
- Monitor evolving accounting guidance and support implementation of new accounting standards
- Ensure compliance with company policies and financial reporting requirements
- Serve as primary liaison for external audits and coordinate audit schedules and documentation
- Partner with Finance, Operations, Payroll, and Leadership teams to support organizational initiatives
- Provide accounting guidance and financial insight to support business decisions
- Act as accounting subject matter expert for Net Suite, Black Line, and related financial systems
- Partner with IT and Finance teams on system enhancements, integrations, and process automation
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows, reporting accuracy, and operational scalability
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing accounting team
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Support performance management, mentoring, and professional development initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA required
- 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience including leadership responsibilities
- Public accounting background strongly preferred
- Experience in multi-entity, multi-unit, or franchise organizations preferred
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Experience with ERP systems including Net Suite and reconciliation platforms such as Black Line preferred
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
