Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead our accounting and financial operations. This role is critical to ensuring accurate project financials, compliance with construction accounting standards, and providing strategic financial insight to leadership.
Key Responsibilities- Lead all accounting functions, including general ledger, reporting, and close process
- Oversee job costing, WIP reporting, and AIA billing
- Manage percentage-of-completion revenue recognition
- Partner with project managers to monitor job performance and profitability
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting policies
- Coordinate audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements
- Supervise and develop accounting staff
- 7+ years of accounting experience, with significant experience in construction accounting
- Strong expertise in AIA billings, job costing, WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting
- Experience with construction software:
Sage 300 CRE (preferred), HCSS Heavy Job, Procore, or other ERP or proprietary construction systems - Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills
- CPA or CMA designation strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Experience in heavy civil construction highly preferred
