Position
Structural Engineer - Ports & Marine Terminals (Transportation Florida)
Position may be based in West Palm Beach, Deerfield Beach, Coral Gables, Miami, Tampa or Jacksonville.
Responsibilities- Responsible for marine structures and other port related projects of varying complexity.
- Work collaboratively and support our business centers, design groups, senior leadership and specialists in other offices.
- Develop project work plans and ensure execution through oversight and management of the project team. Evaluate, select, specify, and engineer all structural engineered systems or products for a project.
- Engage in design development through analysis, design, drawings, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
- Prepare and revise documentation through various project phases including site plans, sections, diagrams, and details.
- Participate in client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and cost estimating.
- Lead the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents.
- Participate in constructability reviews.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects of peers.
- Prepare project reports and feasibility studies.
- Develop project scope, budgets, and design approach for all size projects.
- Assist and lead the development of proposals for port development projects.
- Requisite knowledge of structural design codes, standards, and applicable port and marine terminals standards and guidelines.
- Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of marine structural systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of project document production.
- Experience with STAAD software for structural modeling.
- Check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
- Participate and collaborate in project team setting and engage in creative and critical thought.
- Thorough understanding of structural engineering and port engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas to others.
- Strong written and verbal skills for interaction with project team, owners and clients.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineering license, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- 5+ years of ports & marine civil and structural engineering design experience.

Pay TransparencyIn compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
