Physical Security Device Engineer
The Physical Security Device Engineer oversees the technical operation and continuous improvement of physical security devices across multiple locations. This role is responsible for device programming, system design, technology evaluations, and maintaining the performance and availability of security devices and applications. The position works closely with Security Operations Center (SOC) personnel, vendors, project teams, and end users to support daily operations and strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Program, configure, and deploy physical security devices and supporting systems.
- Optimize device and system performance to ensure operational efficiency and reliability.
- Monitor and maintain device uptime and availability, proactively addressing system issues.
- Coordinate and facilitate service requests, repairs, and vendor support activities.
- Manage the lifecycle of physical security devices and systems, including planning, deployment, maintenance, and replacement.
- Implement and maintain firmware updates, Microsoft updates, and security patches to ensure systems remain secure and compliant.
- Provide training and guidance to end users on system functionality and best practices.
- Deliver technical support and troubleshooting assistance to Security Operations Center (SOC) personnel. Research, evaluate, and support proof-of-concept testing for new security technologies.
- Develop and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to validate system functionality and business requirements.
- Maintain accurate asset inventories and system records for physical security technologies.
- Administer user access, permissions, and privileged accounts in accordance with security policies. Design and document physical security system architectures and technical solutions.
- Assist project managers, system leads, and cross-functional teams with implementation, integration, and enhancement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Security Technology, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience administering and supporting physical security technologies, including access control, video management, and related systems.
- Knowledge of device management, system architecture, lifecycle management, and security best practices.
- Experience applying firmware, operating system, and security updates in an enterprise environment.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support both technical and non-technical users.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to operational issues.
- Experience with security technology integrations, testing, and system implementation projects.
- Relevant industry certifications or manufacturer certifications are a plus.
- Genetec and Axis Communications experience is a plus.
