The Project Manager is in charge of the successful implementation of a specific project within SHL Medical. The role involves planning, budgeting, resource allocation, risk management, and project team leadership to ensure project requirements, deadlines, and schedules are on track in a highly regulatory/GMP environment.
Main Responsibilities- Lead the design and development of complex mechanical medical devices and equipment.
- Maintain project oversight over all disciplines, ensuring discipline leaders understand the project objectives and their responsibilities.
- Understand and incorporate Voice of the Customer and User Needs.
- Interact with customers, internal stakeholders and cross‑functional team leads from project initiation through the entire design and development process.
- Define project scope, objectives and major milestones in alignment with sponsor and internal program and product managers.
- Forecast resources needed, assemble a Project Team with the required skills and experience, and ensure all members are prepared to perform optimally.
- Prepare a budget based on scope and resource requirements and track project costs to meet budget commitments.
- Develop a detailed project schedule and work plan with the Project Team.
- Coordinate internal resources and third‑party vendors for flawless execution.
- Monitor project performance, identify improvement areas, and adjust plans as needed.
- Perform risk management to minimize project risks and raise identified risks early.
- Manage changes to scope, schedule and cost, communicating impacts to all parties.
- Organise and lead regular project team meetings to discuss status, issues and solutions.
- Provide regular project updates to stakeholders on deliverables, adjustments and overall progress.
- PMP Certification is a plus.
- At least 5 years of project management experience.
- Experience with manufacturing processes such as injection molding, machining, rapid prototyping, etc.
- Excellent knowledge of performance evaluation and change management principles.
- Understanding of Human‑Centred Industrial Design and usability research and its interface with engineering.
- Profound knowledge of project management processes, methodologies, tools and techniques, and ability to adapt them to the organization.
