Freight Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities

* Audit freight invoices and claims for accuracy and compliance with shipping agreements

* Investigate and process freight damage claims, loss claims, and billing discrepancies

* Manage freight-related expense documentation and maintain organized claim records

* Coordinate with carriers, vendors, and internal departments to resolve transportation issues

* Track and monitor resolution timelines to ensure timely claim settlement

* Identify trends in freight problems and recommend process improvements

* Reconcile shipping costs against contracted rates and identify overcharges

* Document all transactions and maintain audit trails for compliance purposes

* Assist in the management of third-party freight vendor and carrier processes

* Other duties as assigned.

In addition to the above responsibilities, this individual is held accountable for all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

* Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in transportation.

* Experience with ERP systems and business intelligence tools.

* Intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel and data analysis.

* Strong phone presence, listening and presentation skills.

* Demonstrated computer skills and adaptability to new technology.

* Strong organization and time management skills.

* Solution oriented, self-starter and results oriented.

* Ability to work independently and in a team setting.

* Ability to meet assigned goals and objectives in designated time frames.

* Demonstrated aptitude for continuous learning. Able to learn, teach and lead.
