MakerSpace Intern

Through the Deerfield Public Library's Maker Space internship, you'll help bring ideas to life while gaining valuable, real-world experience. Our dynamic Maker Space is a busy hub for both patrons and staff, offering a wide variety of programs, workshops, and creative projects every day.

As an intern, you'll have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge equipment, support engaging events, provide outstanding customer service, and learn alongside experienced staff. If you're passionate about making, exploring new technologies, and inspiring creativity, we'd love to have you on our team.

• Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday: 12:00 - 5:00 pm

• Collaborate with the Maker Space staff to assist in all aspects of the daily operation and use of the Maker Space.

• Provide excellent customer service while working at the Maker Space service desk.

• Answer phone calls and help patrons with both scheduled and walk-in projects.

• Assist patrons and staff with Maker Space related equipment, software, and activities.

• Operate and provide basic troubleshooting for Maker Space equipment.

• Assist Library staff with planned programs and events, including setup tasks and guiding patrons.

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Active MLIS/MLS students encouraged to apply

• Strong customer service and communication skills

• Robust computer and technology skills, experience with Maker Space technologies

• Ability to work collaboratively with a team

• Library Card

• This position is eligible for paid personal hours at a proportional rate based on the number of hours scheduled to work.
