Planning, Preparation and Instruction- Align lessons to common curriculum goals, content standards, and benchmark standards
- Include authentic, real‑world applications of knowledge and understanding
- Collaborate with all staff to problem‑solve and identify effective differentiation and remediation strategies
- Plan for assessment of student learning, both formative and summative, and communicate results via written and oral methods
- Use student data to inform instruction
- Integrate legal mandates such as 504 and IEP plans into the classroom setting
- Maintain accurate records of critical student information such as allergies, behaviors, and medical conditions
- Prepare clear, detailed, and organized lesson plans for substitute teachers, including student emergency medical information
- Maintain a safe, student‑centered classroom that supports learning, collaboration, and choice
- Develop a positive classroom culture that emphasizes respect for individual differences and high expectations for all students
- Develop effective classroom procedures and routines
- Establish classroom standards of conduct and clear consequences
- Provide timely and informative communication with parents regarding curriculum and classroom expectations
- Respond to parent inquiries in a timely manner in line with district expectations
- Establish age‑appropriate, respectful dialogue with students, including written and oral communication
- Collaborate with colleagues and engage in respectful discourse
- Ensure community stakeholders have access to general information regarding classroom events, performance, and progress
- Maintain dialogue with specialty and special education staff to address diverse student needs
- Integrate prescribed technology/instructional media to enhance instruction and learning
- Understand legal, ethical, and social issues related to Internet and digital resource use
- Provide safe storage and proper use of technology materials, equipment, and tools
- Keep up‑to‑date with evolving technology
- Use resources for adaptive/assistive devices that provide access for all students
- Engage in ongoing self‑assessment and refinement of classroom practice and collaborative professional growth
- Attend staff, department, mentor/mentee, and in‑service meetings as required by contract

Knowledge:
The teacher possesses a working knowledge of curriculum, subject content, and developmental needs of students. The teacher must address curriculum standards, facilitate higher‑level thinking, link present content with past and future learning experiences, other subject areas, and real‑world experiences, and demonstrate accurate subject‑matter knowledge and skills.
