Job Summary
Job Summary Manages complex data gathering and integration of large volumes of data, performs analysis, interprets results, and develops actionable insights and recommendations for use across the company. Provides management and guidance to multiple groups of staff, including data scientists and data analysts, to deliver predictive models, experimentation frameworks, and optimization solutions. Partners cross‑functionally with senior leadership to translate complex analyses into clear, actionable recommendations that accelerate growth, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen competitive advantage.
Job Responsibilities- Provides management and guidance to multiple groups of data scientists and data analysts to implement the company’s data science strategy.
- Manages efforts of others in the achievement of the strategic and operational objectives. Leads the area to ensure performance standards and all goals and objectives are met in a timely and organized fashion.
- Manages complex data gathering and integration of large volumes of data, performing analysis, interpreting results, and developing actionable insights and recommendations for use across the company.
- Researches techniques that may include statistical modeling, visualization, machine learning, and data mining.
- Makes recommendations regarding operating plans for specified area, then realigns daily operations based on prevailing conditions.
- Plans and structures work activities for teams and monitors progress and results. May develop briefs for outside vendors and manage their relationships.
- Provides guidance and supervision to teams as they carry out work activities. Recruits and develops staff within area of responsibility in accordance with policy.
- Influences individuals within and outside the department. Prepares and presents reports to all levels of leadership and staff.
- Develops budget for functional area and manages it to meet delivering against budgetary goals and objectives.
- Stays abreast of industry‑leading best practices and brings them to the attention of the leadership team for innovative application.
- Develops and leverages partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to meet business needs.
- Oversees and manages managers, supervisors and individual contributors. Allocates available resources to meet operating objectives and ensures ongoing training and development.
- Develops and mentors staff through onboarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes, builds and maintains employee morale and motivation, ensures the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies, and fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace.
- Master’s degree in statistics, data science, mathematics, economics, or a quantitative, computational or technical discipline AND at least 4 years of post‑graduate professional work experience in a statistical function.
- Experience in data science, advanced analytics, or statistics. Ability to interrogate data, perform analyses, interpret data, and present to business audiences.
- Deep knowledge of SQL.
- Deep knowledge of open‑source data science and statistics packages such as Python, R, Spark, etc.
- Experience with analytics strategy development.
- Experience interacting at the executive level.
- Experience leading cross‑functional teams.
- Experience establishing and maintaining key relationships with internal and external stakeholders within a matrix organization to develop strategies that meet department goals within budget and timelines.
- At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
- At least 3 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership or cross‑functional team leadership.
- Willingness to travel up to 10 percent of the time for business purposes (within and out of state).
- Graduate degree in a quantitative, computational or technical discipline.
- Retail industry experience is a plus.

Salary Range$136,000 – $231,300 / Salaried
