Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Risk Manager/Analyst
Compliance & Ethics (C&E) is seeking a Director to lead key initiatives within the Compliance Fair and Responsible Banking (FRB) team, enhancing governance and oversight of the Compliance Management Program (CMP). The role is part of C&E, working with associates who provide oversight and guidance to sustain existing governance practices while improving methodology to ensure Capital One effectively manages compliance risk.
The successful candidate will be self‑starting and collaborative, able to connect elements of the CMP to the regulatory environment, business practices, and customer needs. They should deliver results amid changing conditions, move from ambiguity toward grounded recommendations, provide strategic and tactical guidance, and influence partners across the organization at various levels. Strong problem‑solving, analytical skills, attention to detail, and process/project leadership capabilities are essential.
Responsibilities- Play a key role in designing and delivering initiatives to enhance the existing Compliance Management Program.
- Collaborate with stakeholders (e.g., General Compliance Advisory & Testing, Enterprise Risk Management, other IRM groups, Audit, business risk offices, front‑line process owners) to improve governance practices.
- Leverage data and analytics to inform outcomes and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to accomplish shared objectives.
- Anticipate, identify, and elevate problems early and propose mitigations.
- Provide strategic program leadership, driving alignment in a matrixed, highly complex regulated environment.
- Design, develop, and manage risk‑management focused project plans in a dynamic environment, revising as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent military experience.
- At least 8 years of experience in compliance, risk management, legal, or audit.
- At least 5 years of process, project, or program management experience.
- At least 4 years of people management experience.
- Master’s Degree or Juris Doctor.
- Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) or Certified Enterprise Risk Professional (CERP).
- 7+ years of experience in financial services.
- Experience designing and implementing compliance management programs.
- Expertise in consumer protection laws (e.g., FCRA, SCRA).

Salary ranges (annual, full‑time):
- Chicago, IL: $187,300 - $213,700
- McLean, VA: $206,000 - $235,100
- Richmond, VA: $187,300 - $213,700
- Riverwoods, IL: $187,300 - $213,700
