Position: Public Safety Associate - 3rd shift, part-time, 20 hrs/week

Public Safety Associate (PSA)

The Public Safety Associate (PSA) is a uniform position responsible for providing support to Public Safety operations at CW facilities. Duties may include, but are not limited to, providing badge access credentialing services; actively greeting and engaging with guests and visitors to ensure a positive experience; screening visitors according to visitation guidelines; determining the guest's destination and providing assistance as needed;

directing visitors with precise way finding; reporting suspicious activities; providing support during emergency conditions; performing weapon screening services to prevent weapons and other prohibited property from entering Children’s property.

Essential Functions
  • Primarily works at Welcome Center stations, badges and screens visitors according to visitation policy.
  • Determines guests’ destination and transportation needs, directing them precisely.
  • Directs visitors to all ambulatory clinics, ancillary locations, inpatient areas, EDTC, and campus amenities.
  • Builds credible relationships with customers, delivering personal attention and demonstrating respect while maintaining HIPAA confidentiality.
  • Performs weapon screening services and secures property/evidence as directed.
  • Liaises with local law enforcement.
  • Maintains area safety and order during emergency conditions and keeps area neat and orderly.
  • Maintains current knowledge of CW policy and SOW through review of internal communications and attendance at meetings.
  • Ensures compliance with Children’s Organizational Code of Ethics and applicable policies, regulations, and laws.
Education
  • High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) required.
  • Post‑high‑school coursework in criminal justice or equivalent field of study preferred.
Experience
  • 1+ years of customer service experience required.
  • 1+ years of uniformed security or public safety experience in healthcare, corporate security, law enforcement, or military service preferred.
  • 1+ years of weapon screening experience preferred.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to assess customer demeanor and adjust approach appropriately.
  • Remain calm under pressure to support a safe, welcoming environment.
  • Complete required introductory and annual competency training.
  • Basic computer skills for troubleshooting equipment and system issues.
  • Read and write to complete reports and recordkeeping.
  • Critical thinking and problem‑solving in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service and prioritization skills.
  • Confidence and finesse in stressful situations, diffusing negativity.
  • Interpersonal communication skills with hospital employees, patients and visitors.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members to create solutions.
  • Use weapon screening technologies effectively.
Licenses and Certifications
  • BLS – Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council) required within 90 days.
  • CHS‑Certified Healthcare Security – International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety preferred.
