Job Summary
Primarily responsible for creating, delivering, and maintaining accurate documentation of staff/department keys for the health system. Also perform electrical access control repairs for Public Safety as needed, and routine office coordination including Security Device testing while focusing on exceptional customer service.
- Collaborate with supervisor to develop procedures and manage systems for creating and distributing keying related tasks across the health system.
- Assess and identify security vulnerabilities in locks and security systems and provide suitable recommendations.
- Prepare Key Hierarchy for new builds and remodels and order appropriate hardware needs from vendors.
- Create and maintain records of all key systems and security measures implemented for easy reference and future maintenance.
- Staff the hospital’s Lock shop/Security device offices and serve as the primary point of contact for customer service in bitting new, replacement, or updated keying for employees.
- Mail appropriate keys to community-based/clinic locations and manage the tracking of said keys.
- Provide exceptional customer service and create keys in a timely and efficient manner.
- Assist Public Safety staff with troubleshooting and correcting problems related to all access control issues related to keys, card readers, and doors.
- Keep up to date with the latest advancements in lock technology and security systems to provide the most effective and efficient services.
- Order keying/security device supplies accurately and timely to maintain stock levels and follow established purchasing policies and guidelines.
- Ensure accuracy of documentation related to purchases.
- Perform other related general office and record keeping duties as well as various customer service requests.
- Perform special assignments and projects such as security device testing as directed by the Public Safety Systems Supervisor or Public Safety Director.
- High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) required.
- Apprenticeship or Vocational training preferred.
- If no formal training is present, completion of an Apprenticeship or Vocational program within 2 years of employment preferred.
- 1+ years of handset or lock experience or servicing doors in a healthcare environment required.
- Key cutting experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent knowledge of different types of locks, including mechanical, electronic, and combination locks.
- Proficiency in using key‑cutting machines and tools to cut new or duplicate keys accurately.
- Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations pertaining to locksmithing and security systems.
- Familiar with multiple devices that could be on a door.
- Ability to read and write to review and complete forms and perform various record‑keeping activities.
- Good judgment and organizational ability to prioritize and organize workload to meet daily demands and respond to urgent situations.
- Requires excellent customer service and interpersonal skills to greet and assist customers and respond to their needs professionally and efficiently.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality when exposed to matters pertaining to a wide variety of organizational issues.
- Demonstrated computer skills utilizing MS Office Applications – Windows, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
