Patient Access Specialist Associate

Position Overview

Ensemble is a leading provider of technology-enabled revenue cycle management solutions for health systems, including hospitals and affiliated physician groups. This part‑time, onsite role at Mercy‑Defiance Hospital in Defiance, OH supports patient access functions with a focus on compliance, customer service, and accurate data capture.

Onsite at Mercy‑Defiance Hospital, Defiance, OH. Part‑time, 2 days per week with varied shifts.

Hourly pay range: $17.00 – $18.15, based on experience.

• Assign MRNs accurately and complete medical necessity/compliance checks.
• Collect insurance information and process physician orders.
• Utilize overlay tools and maintain excellent customer service as measured by Press Ganey.
• Operate telephone switchboard for incoming, outgoing, and inter‑office calls.
• Adhere to policies with compassion and excellent customer service.
• Meet point‑of‑service goals and audit accounts for accuracy and compliance.
• Perform pre‑registration of patient accounts, including demographic and insurance data collection.
• Explain general consent for treatment forms, obtain signatures, and distribute patient education documents.
• Verify insurance eligibility, select applicable insurance plan code, and enter benefit data to support POS collections and billing.
• Screen medical necessity using ABN software, inform Medicare patients, and distribute ABN forms as appropriate.

• 1+ years of customer service experience.
• Inquisitive and open to innovation, including AI‑driven process improvements.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CRCR certification required within 9 months of hire (company‑paid).
