- Plan and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety, Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
- Plan and implement programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment and other materials.
- Plan and direct all aspects of the Hazardous Waste Management Program, including compliance, implementation and training.
- Prepare studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies.
- Perform Job Hazard and Job Safety Analysis.
- Inspect organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures, and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented.
- Provide information, signs, posters, barriers and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
- Conduct investigation of accidents and injuries and implement corrective actions.
- Compile and submit accident reports required by senior management and regulatory agencies.
- Maintain safety files and records.
- Familiar with ISO
14001. - Act as Management Representative for the Environmental Management System, responsible for:
- Ensuring that an environmental management system is established, implemented and maintained.
- Reporting to top management on the performance of the environmental management system for review, including recommendations for improvement.
- Lead Auditor for Environmental Management System.
- Maintain EMS Training Schedule and Matrix and all supporting documentation.
- Identify gaps and facilitate corrective action plans to comply with EMS requirements.
- Ensure adherence to OSHA and other safety and environmental regulations, policies and procedures.
- Be well versed in Lock Out Tag Out.
- Bachelor's degree (B.S. M.E.) from a four‑year college or university;
Master’s degree preferred with seven to ten years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. - ISO
14001 certification. - Knowledge and experience with governmental and regulatory agency standards (OSHA, EPA).
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong managerial skills with ability to interface with senior management and union officials.
- Display independent judgment and initiative.
